But the German team Walter Rörhl - Christian Geistdorfer showed off as best in the first rally of the year: The Monte Carlo. They also ended finished 1st in the Portugal Rally. The photograph shows the team in the heavy Greek Acropolis Rally where the Fiat ended in a nice 5th place. The team showed off once again by winning the unforseeable Codasur Rally of Argentina. The Italian - German dreamteam continues to confirm in the Finland 1000 Lakes and the San Remo Rally. The car was already suffering from a midlife crisis when the team had to withdraw from the hard RAC Rally of Britain and the inhuman Ivory Coast Rally, but it was this car that helped Fiat getting the contructors title with 120 pts. Walther Röhrl himself collected 118 points from the 120 points Fiat gained with his 131, and so he became the best driver of the world championship 1980, with an already outdated car. Maar het Duitse team Walter Röhrl - Christian Geistdorfer manifesteerde zich reeds als beste in de eerste rally van het jaar: De Monte Carlo. Ze eindigden eveneens 1e in de rally van Portugal. Het team stelde haar kunnen weer eens tentoon door de onvoorspelbare Codazur Rally van Argentinïe te winnen.
